My very first award at work

Yesterday was the last day at work for me before my two days off for the weekends. I worked six days in one week already. I usually worked six days total for two weeks as being part-time housekeeper in a nursing home. It was tiring but at the same time fun and exciting.

I was on my last room to cleaned when I heard a knock. It was one of my housekeeper co-worker. She told me congratulations. I replied for what. She told me that I got an award. I said you are kidding, right? I said no! I do not know what you are talking about. She said that I was the October True And Tried award which only the Supervisor can nominated you.
After working for almost nine months, I am beyond shocked, proud and humble to receive my very first award. My co-worker said that I will receive a certificate in the mail. I will also get a PTO (personal time off) with pay or you can choose cash. I work five and a half hours. I am thankful for my Supervisor for acknowledging my hard work. Though there are times that working is a little challenging when toilets are plugged but making the residents smile while talking and listening to their stories is the best part of working in a nursing home.

Working in a Nursing Home is not easy but it needs determination to do what's needed for the routinary job. Well, congratz for the award and more to receive in the future.

Hey Jessica! Congratulations! This is just proof that hard work really pays off. I also worked in a nursing home for two years in Taipei. It was very challenging, although we did not get any awards or recognition, the hong pao (red money envelope) given by the patients' families were the best! Keep it up and wish you more success, sis!
